WAYS TO HELP YOU AVOID GETTING CANCER

The 1988 Surgeon General’s Report on Health recommends a diet that would help to reduce the number of cancer cases. Here are the guidelines:

(1) Reduce fat intake to less than 30% of your total calories. The easiest way to do this is to eat less red meat and leaner cuts of other types of meats

(2) Increase the fiber in your diet to 20 to 30 grams each day. This can easily be accomplished by eating plenty of vegetables and whole grain products.

(3) Include a wide variety of vegetables and fruits in your diet. You should have 4 to 6 servings of vegetables and 2 to 3 servings of fruit.

(4) Avoid being overweight. This increases your tendency toward many diseases by weakening your entire system.

(5) Limit your consumption of heavily spiced, salt cured, smoked, and pickled foods.

(6) Reduce alcohol consumption.

(7) Exercise on a regular weekly schedule.

(8) Don’t Smoke
